News reports came from New Zealand yesterday, and from US news agencies this morning warning of another email campaign targeting Netflix. netflix_web_logo.pngThe New Zealand phish came from the address info@mailer.com and was titled "Suspension of your Netflix membership."

The email claimed, "We recently failed to validate your payment information, we hold on record for your account, therefore we need to ask you to complete a brief validation process in order to verify your billing and payment details," and asked for payment information in order to avoid deactivation of the Netflix account.

If victims fall for the scam, their login, credit card information, and picture ID could all be stolen, one report said.

Users are reminded to heavily scrutinize such emails, and never click on an email link from a company which asks for payment or account information. Netflix was also phished last November, when fake emails claimed they were raising prices from $11.99 to $14.99 per month.
